Donald Trump has made it strikingly clear since the very get-go of this coronavirus outbreak that he wants the economy back open and the United States back to business as usual just as soon as humanly possible. However, we all know his motives for it are far from pure and well-meaning.
I’d almost understand it if Trump were worried about the thousands of Americans that are currently out of work and struggling to pay their rent (a bigger, better stimulus package would obviously be a better option, but you can’t expect too much out of a Republican), but Donald Trump hasn’t lost a wink of sleep over your ability to pay the light bill.
The president is worried about himself. The economy, which is pretty much the only thing he had left to bank on for another term, is all but garbage at this point and his chances at reelection are swirling down that golden toilet of his right before his eyes.
The only person Donald Trump wants to save is himself — at the expense of an inconceivable number of lives. And according to a new report from the Washington Post, at the expense of quite a few “prominent figures” as well.

The Post reports that as part of Trump’s efforts to reopen the country as soon as possible, Trump advisers are working double-time to convince “prominent figures” to jump on Trump’s plan for an early reopening. That way, when it inevitably blows up in their faces, Donald can spread the blame far and wide.
The report reads:
Trump’s advisers are trying to shield the president from political accountability should his move to reopen the economy prove premature and result in lost lives, and so they are trying to mobilize business executives, economists and other prominent figures to buy into the eventual White House plan, so that if it does not work, the blame can be shared broadly, according to two former administration officials familiar with the efforts.”
Once again, Trump wants to make as big a mess out of things as possible in an effort to save his own skin and then manage to lay the blame at the feet of everyone but himself.
