As if things weren’t bad enough for the washed-up, scandal-ridden former guy as it is, a bombshell new report from ABC News now reveals that a federal grand jury already investigating the events surrounding, leading up to, and during the infamous, deadly January 6th Capitol insurrection has now turned its focus onto Donald Trump’s “Save America” Leadership PAC, and its activities regarding the fatal attack.
Katherine Faulders and John Santucci with ABC News report, “The interest in the fundraising arm came to light as part of grand jury subpoenas seeking documents, records, and testimony from potential witnesses, the sources said. The subpoenas, sent to several individuals in recent weeks, are specifically seeking to understand the timeline of Save America’s formation, the organization’s fundraising activities, and how money is both received and spent by the Trump-aligned PAC.”

This is, of course, far from the first time Donald Trump has faced down scrutiny over his less-than-honest fundraising tactics. Not long ago, his campaign was forced to refund a staggering $122 million-plus in donations after they scammed their donors out of an inconceivable amount of money by pre-checking a box that forced the donor to agree to repeat donations on a monthly basis, without anything noted on the website to make the option clear, or the fact that the box was pre-checked.

“According to Save America’s statement of organization filed to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the committee was established just days after the 2020 election. At the time, the filing said the new committee is affiliated with the Trump campaign and the Trump Make America Great Committee, a small-dollar focused, joint-fundraising committee between the president’s campaign and the Republican National Committee, which has been sending out donor solicitation emails for Save America,” ABC reports. “Since its inception, Save America PAC has brought in more than $135 million, including transfers from affiliated committees, according to disclosure records. As of the end of July, the PAC reported having just under $100 million in cash on hand.”
This, of course, has hit Trump at the worst conceivable time, as he continues to grapple with the ongoing and rapidly mounting investigation into the multiple boxes full of highly-classified, top-secret, and federally-protected documents and materials he stole from the White House when his presidency ended, that FBI agents were forced to seize from his Mar-a-Lago resort during their execution of a search warrant after Trump failed to fully turn over the material to the National Archives upon their requests and demands.
