Republican Lawmaker Posted A Photo Of Handgun In Response To His Governor’s Mask Mandate: “What If I Don’t Comply?”

This is what this country has come to.

It’s certainly no secret that the GOP crowd in this country is throwing a temper tantrum worthy of a four-year-old over the fact that the big, bad government is making them wear a mask in the middle of a massive global pandemic to help prevent them from potentially killing thousands of people.

The main difference here is, the worst damage a four-year-old can do is knocking over a display in the grocery store or throwing a stray shoe at their sibling’s head — whereas the anti-mask, “the coronavirus is all one big hoax from Hillary Clinton and we’re pretty sure there was some pizza involved” crowd typically have guns and ammunition and an overinflated ego that makes them believe that they aren’t beholden to any man’s rules.

To say the least, it creates a whole lot bigger problem than the toddler tantrum on the floor of Wal-Mart.

Take this as a prime example.

Yesterday, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced a statewide mask mandate in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic — a move that many local officials are taking lately as the virus continues to grow across the nation. Later yesterday evening, Indiana Republican state lawmaker Jim Lucas responded to said mandate with a Facebook post that would undoubtedly make Donald Trump proud.

“Starting Monday, the governor wants to lock me in a cage for 180 days and fine me $1,000 if I don’t wear a mask that has no published standards for effectiveness,” Lucas, who has served his southern Indiana district since 2012 posted to his Facebook page. “What if I don’t comply, Governor Eric Holcomb?”

Below the caption was a photo of a .45-caliber handgun alongside a clip for the firearm and a pamphlet of the United States Constitution.

Unsurprisingly, the post garnered quite a bit of negative attention, seemingly prompting Lucas to go back and add: “For those that are blowing this out of proportion (again), this picture IS NOT a threat against anyone!”

“It is a picture that I have used countless times for years that best exhibits our FREEDOM and Constitutional rights and IS NOT A THREAT!,” he said in the post that is now no longer publicly viewable on Facebook.

Though the post featuring the firearm was ultimately removed from public view, Lucas doubled down in another Facebook post, saying he intends to draft a resolution to “rescind this level of power, as one person was never intended to have this much power in a constitutional republic.”

This is the type of people we currently have sitting in our government, folks.

When November comes around, don’t forget that Donald Trump is only one of MANY problems that need to be dealt with.
