Senator Ted Cruz got his ass positively handed to him on social media recently after he responded to a report telling of the struggles of Americans whose benefits are expiring as we continue to wade through the COVID-19 pandemic, telling desperate, scared Americans to “get a job.”
Quote tweeting a report from ABC News that noted “Jobless Americans have few options as benefits expire,” the Texas GOP Senator thought he’d take his sarcasm for a spin and wrote, “Um, get a job?”
“There are millions of vacancies, and small businesses across the Nation are desperate for workers,” Cruz added in his tweet.
Um, get a job?

Unsurprisingly, Twitter gave Cancun’s finest no grace in response to his wildly unhelpful, tone-deaf, and frankly cruel suggestions:
Can you tell us where to get a job like yours?
✔️says no to everything
✔️on social media all day
✔️full healthcare and pension
✔️$175,000 a year
✔️no boss
✔️frequent unrelated travel
✔️8 weeks paid vacation
✔️no obligation or objectives
✔️zero loyalty to your constituents— Ms. Kops (@KopsMiss) September 7, 2021

like McDonald’s or Burger King? no jobs that match up with peoples skill sets. People cannot afford to take such a drastic pay cut. You people should be looking for answers rather than saying get a job. you have one & you don’t do it.

Do you know any jobs where you can take your family on vacation while the people you’re supposed to be serving are in the middle of a crisis?

If only there was some kind of job that paid $174k to tweet and fly to Cancun when your state was in crisis 🤔

Of course, Cruz deserved every ounce of backlash he got and then some, as he was all too happy to oppose a minimum wage increase that would allow people to even afford to “Um, get a job?” as well as a coronavirus aid package under the excuse that it would enable “illegal immigrants” and “criminals” to get a stimulus check.
But sure, go off, buddy.
