Ted Cruz Tells Unemployed Americans Whose Benefits Expired To “Get A Job” And Twitter Was Not Having It

That was a bad idea, sir.

Senator Ted Cruz got his ass positively handed to him on social media recently after he responded to a report telling of the struggles of Americans whose benefits are expiring as we continue to wade through the COVID-19 pandemic, telling desperate, scared Americans to “get a job.”

Quote tweeting a report from ABC News that noted “Jobless Americans have few options as benefits expire,” the Texas GOP Senator thought he’d take his sarcasm for a spin and wrote, “Um, get a job?”

“There are millions of vacancies, and small businesses across the Nation are desperate for workers,” Cruz added in his tweet.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter gave Cancun’s finest no grace in response to his wildly unhelpful, tone-deaf, and frankly cruel suggestions:

Of course, Cruz deserved every ounce of backlash he got and then some, as he was all too happy to oppose a minimum wage increase that would allow people to even afford to “Um, get a job?” as well as a coronavirus aid package under the excuse that it would enable “illegal immigrants” and “criminals” to get a stimulus check.

But sure, go off, buddy.
