Members of the House select committee investigating January 6 revealed where former President Donald Trump was on January 6 when a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the committee’s vice-chair, told ABC News that the committee has “firsthand testimony” that Ivanka Trump asked her father to intervene during the attack. Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) told CNN that the committee has “significant testimony” that the Trump White House “had been told to do something.”

Watch:

Cheney revealed Ivanka Trump’s efforts to stop the violence at the Capitol. The Wyoming Republican added that the panel has firsthand testimony confirming Ivanka’s requests.

“We know members of his family, we know his daughter – we have firsthand testimony that his daughter Ivanka went in at least twice to ask him to please stop this violence,” Cheney said on ABC’s This Week. She added that the White House briefing room was a “mere few steps” away.

“He could have told them to go home, and he failed to do so. It’s hard to imagine a more significant and more serious dereliction of duty than that,” Cheney said.

Cheney said Trump’s inaction on that deadly day proves he is “clearly unfit for future office and clearly cannot be anywhere near the Oval Office ever again.’

Cheney said that there are a “number” of “potential criminal statutes at issue here.”

“Any man who would watch television as police officers are being beaten,” she said, “is clearly unfit for office.”

Watch:

It took the twice-impeached one-term President over 187 minutes to tell the rioters to stop, and now we know why. He was too busy watching the spectacle unfold on television. How this man has any support at all is beyond me. What a pathetic man. He had to be told to act while our country was under attack. And it still took him three hours to call off his violent supporters.

Was the crisis in Afghanistan surrounding the pull out of American Troops Biden's fault or Trump's fault?
