The Trump ship is sinking.

In the weeks and days ahead of the impending presidential election, Donald Trump has been losing his support in droves — a particularly bad thing for a guy who was already trailing way behind his Democratic opposition in virtually every reputable poll across the nation. And now, with just four short days left until America officially casts its vote, people are still bailing off the sinking Trump ship at an alarming rate.

To most recent to join in the jump is a former top aide of a Trump administration official, who says he just cannot stand behind this mess any longer.

Longtime Michigan Republican and former chief of staff to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Josh Venable, penned a blistering editorial for The Detroit News in which he explained why he simply could not support a second term for Donald Trump.

Venable writes that, even though he agreed with some of the policies implemented by the Trump administration, he simply cannot see how Trump’s re-election is worth the staggering damage he’s causing.

“President Donald Trump thrives on purposely sowing strife and discord,” the former DeVos aide pens. “I have seen it up close and in person. He does so at the expense of the nation’s interests, the health and prosperity of our fellow citizens, alliances forged through generations of sacrifice, and the personal safety of public servants.”

Venable, (again, a lifelong Republican) left no stone unturned when it comes to who’s to blame for the deteriorated state our nation is in, pointing out that the party he’s belonged to all his life has turned a blind eye to Trump’s transgressions simply so they could confirm their picks of Supreme Court Justices.

“The Republican Party has allowed Trump to mortgage its soul, devolving into nothing more than a morally bankrupt conduit to propagate the president’s politics of division and destruction,” he blistered. “I am tired of the division, discord, chaos, vitriol, and hate. I am tired of your failure and refusal to lead. Our party can — and must — do better.”

This just serves as further proof that it is never too late to speak out and speak up for what is right. I can only imagine we’ll be reading many more like this over the next four days.
