During a meeting at the White House, Donald Trump took questions from reporters, and the answer to one of them was pretty incredible. And by incredible, I mean it’s not believable like most things this president has said.
Even though studies have shown that hydroxychloroquine offers few benefits to COVID-19 patients, Trump is still pushing the drug. And according to the FDA, the drug could cause heart rhythm problems for coronavirus patients, and should not be taken outside of a hospital setting.
According to Trump, he has tested negative for COVID-19, and yet, he claims he’s taking hydroxychloroquine, saying that the White House doctor signed off on him taking the drug.
“Yeah, White House doctor…no, I asked him, ‘What do you think?’ He said, ‘Well if you’d like it.’ I said ‘Yeah I’d like it. I’d like to take it. A lot of people are taking it,'” Trump said.

“So far, I seem to be okay,” Trump said. When asked why he started taking this drug, the president said he’s gotten “so many letters,” and added there were “a lot of positive letters.”
Trump added that he’s talking hydroxychloroquine “right now,” and said he started taking the drug “a couple weeks ago.” Trump said, “Because I think it’s good. I’ve heard a lot of good stories.”
A Reuters reporter asked, “What is the evidence that hydroxychloroquine has a preventative impact?”
“Are you ready?” Trump said. “Here’s my evidence — I get a lot of positive calls about it … what do you have to lose?”
Here’s a video of that exchange:

Trump claimed he’s taking the drug as a preventative measure.
Trump, who just said that his evidence for the preventative value of hydroxychloroquine is that “I get a lot of positive calls,” now says the study showing higher death rates for hydroxy patients at the VA is “a very unscientific report.”

Either Trump is lying or the license his doctor carries needs to be yanked. Next, the president is going to tell us that he’s been shooting up disinfectant, and sticking flashlights up his butt as preventative measures against COVID-19 — just to prove that he’s right.
