Trump Adviser Peter Navarro Tried To Challenge “60 Minutes”: “Show Me Episodes During The Obama And Bush Administrations That Said The Global Pandemic Was Coming;” Show Delivered

Well, that was a bad idea, Peter.

As Donald Trump continues to muck up his response to the coronavirus pandemic in virtually every conceivable way, it seems that his cronies are now willing to make complete assholes out of themselves (as if they weren’t bad enough before this whole pandemic thing) in an attempt to defend their undefendable dear leader.

This week, 60 Minutes‘ Bill Whitaker reported on the nationwide shortage of personal protection equipment (PPE) as the country continues to battle the rapidly-growing coronavirus outbreak.

Medical personnel from coast to coast are still suffering from a catastrophic shortage of supplies such as masks, gloves, and face shields to help protect themselves from the virus as they treat the tens of thousands of infected individuals across the United States.

As part of the segment covering the shortage on 60 Minutes, Whitaker interviewed trade adviser and recently appointed policy coordinator of the Defense Production Act, Peter Navarro — who only landed his newest gig after Trump finally decided to invoke the act that forced capable companies to produce the supplies so desperately needed to save lives.

But as it turns out, completely unsurprisingly, Navarro appeared to be a whole lot less interested in discussing the measures taken by the federal government to address the pandemic and a whole lot more interested in weaseling in a “gotcha” moment against the show.

“I challenge you, show me the  60 Minutes  episode a year ago, two years ago, or during the Obama administration, during the Bush administration that said, ‘Hey, global pandemic’s coming,” Navarro fired off at Whitaker during the segment.

And it seemed as though 60 Minutes was all too happy to take the “ask and you shall receive” approach to Navarro’s attempt to be snotty.

Take a look:

Ouch! It’ll take him weeks to scrub that pie out of his eyebrows. Better luck next time!
