Trump Apparently Wants To Delay Possible Evidence Of His Personal Secret Service Costs Until After The Election

It's almost as if he has something to hide.

I’m starting to think that this Donald Trump guy isn’t on the up and up. First, he said he would release his tax returns; then for some strange reason, he has refused to do so. There’s a long list of things this “administration” has tried to keep under wraps, and adding to that, the Washington Post reports that the “Drain the Swamp” occupant of the White House appears to be doing something very swampy by seeking to delay a Democratic effort to require the Secret Service to disclose how much is spent to protect Trump and his family when they travel.

But here’s the kicker (there’s always a kicker): The Trump administration wants to wait until after the 2020 election to disclose the amount that includes the former reality show star’s travel to and from his resorts and properties to play golf and whatnot. Unsurprisingly, the man who is aiding this effort for Trump is Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who, by the way, just happens to look like a villain in a shitty cartoon that never got published.

Trump, who has claimed to be the most transparent president ever, is starting to make me think that might not be true:

Mnuchin has balked at Democratic demands that the bill require the Secret Service to disclose the costs related to the travel of the president and his adult children within 120 days after it is passed, according to people with knowledge of the talks. Mnuchin has agreed to Democrats’ push for a requirement that the Secret Service report its travel expenses but wants such disclosures to begin after the election.”

As the Post notes, and as we mentioned above, Democrats are a bit peeved over the administration’s resistance to disclosing how much taxpayer money has been spent on presidential travel because the public has a right to know the price of his frequent visits to his resorts in Florida and New Jersey.

Trump repeatedly blasted former President Barack Obama for golf outings, but the current occupant of the White House is on track to outspend his predecessor’s 8-years in office to play golf in just half that time. Trump’s total as of last month is the equivalent of 296 years of the $400,000 presidential salary that his supporters often boast that he is not taking, but his fans still give him a pass on that somehow. Trump and his family’s lavish outings have put a financial drain on the Secret Service.

And the worst part of it is that Trump profits from his and his family’s excursions by using the office of the presidency to boost the “president’s” businesses by forcing the federal government to spend taxpayer money at Trump properties. And we, including Trump supporters, are paying for that. But, we’ll find out the amount after the election. And Mexico will pay for the wall. I’m starting to see a pattern here.
