Trump Appears To Brag About “Death Totals” Per Million People In US From COVID: “Very Very Strong”

Yeah, that's nothing to brag about, dude.

More than one million people in the United States have contracted the coronavirus, and we’re closing in on sixty-three thousand deaths from the potentially deadly disease. In January, Trump said, “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.” And in early February, Trump said, “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”

On February 26th, Trump claimed, “We’re going very substantially down, not up.” The very next day, the president said, “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

Instead of acting promptly when the president first learned of the looming threat in November, Trump golfed and held rallies. At one rally, Trump even appeared to mock the coronavirus.

By March 13th, the seriousness had sunk in, and Trump said, “I take no responsibility at all.” On March 17th, Trump claimed, “I felt this was a pandemic before they called it a pandemic.”

It’s now April 30th, and the death toll is through the roof, and thirty million Americans are suddenly out of work as we stay home in hopes of flattening the coronavirus curve.

Also, today, Trump seems to think the death totals are something to brag about.

“Our death totals, our numbers, per million people, are really very, very strong,” Trump said. “We’re very proud of the job we’ve done.”

Watch:

Donald Trump has suggested the virus will simply disappear by April, touted unproven and dangerous treatments as miracle cures, and pushed to reopen the economy amid the pandemic. President Nostradumbass also predicted this week that the U.S. might see only 60,000 coronavirus related deaths, but we’re well past that marker now.

But yes, Mr. Trump,  the death total is “very strong” in the U.S. At least he got that part inadvertently right. Next, he’ll brag that there are only thirty million Americans out of work, after all, he’ll say he predicted forty million jobless claims. That’s what narcissists do. They never accept blame because they’re always, always right — even when there’s blood all over their hands.
