Video footage that quickly made the rounds on social media showed disgraced former President Donald Trump telling a “Gays For Trump” support that he “doesn’t look gay” while addressing the crowd from the stage during a fundraising event at his Florida Mar-a-Lago home/resort.
According to reporting from Newsweek, the event was held to raise money for Michigan House Rep. candidate John Gibbs, a Republican runner who Trump hopes to help defeat incumbent Rep. Peter Meijer after Meijer voted in favor of Donald’s impeachment last year.
From his place on the Mar-a-Lago stage, ex-President Trump shouted into the crowd, “Where’s Gays for Trump?”
Someone in the audience shouted in response, “We’re over here!”

This quip sent Trump’s crowd into a rowdy fit of laughter.
Once the laughter began to die down, Trump told the audience, “We did great with the gay population, as you know.”
After the fundraising event, the founder of Gays for Trump, Peter Boykin, spoke with Newsweek about the moment.
Boykin said that the person Trump was addressing “probably wouldn’t ‘look gay’ because it’s a stereotype that fits more with the typical ‘look’ of leftist LGBT. Not saying some of us might look fabulous and ‘gay.'”
The founder went on to explain that an individual from his Trump-supporting group likely wouldn’t “look gay,” and would instead blend in with any typical crowd unless they chose to wear a flashy, flamboyant outfit in what would likely be a joke.
“Gays For Trump is a nationwide movement full of various types of gays and the gay community has a lot of diversity—the difference is the Gays for Trump lean right,” Boykin stated.
Recently, Trump raised eyebrows with his comments during his interview on the Full Send Podcast when he told the hosts, the NELK Boys, that the Village People’s 1978 hit, “Y.M.C.A” is often referred to as “the gay national anthem.”
“‘Y.M.C.A,’ the gay national anthem,” Trump said in the interview, where he bragged about his new gig DJ’ing during Mar-a-Lago events. “Did you ever hear that? They call it the gay national anthem. But ‘Y.M.C.A.’ gets people up, and it gets ‘em moving.”
“People love it when I do it,” he bragged.
