British filmmaker Alex Holder — who was previously best known for his documentaries on individuals in the UK — has recently gained notoriety here in the States thanks to his new documentary film, Unprecedented.
The Unprecedented film allowed Holder to gain access to the inner daily workings of not only the Trump White House, but the Trump family as well, including Donald’s 4 eldest children, Don Jr., Eric, Tiffany, and Ivanka, all of which played various large roles in their father’s presidency. The timing of Holder’s filmmaking for the Trump documentary was conveniently around the same time as the 2020 presidential election and subsequent January 6th Capitol riot — allowing the filmmaker to rise to a bit of fame here in the US when that January 6th House Select Committee ultimately used a lot of Holder’s footage as evidence in their investigation and even interviewed the British filmmaker.
Unprecedented recently premiered on Discovery Plus back in July, and in the aftermath of the documentary’s release, Holder held an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit, where fans and followers were able to do just that — ask him anything.
During the AMA event, Holder touched on the topic of the relationship and dynamic between Donald Trump’s eldest son and namesake, Donald Trump Jr., and his younger brother, the middle Trump son, Eric.

One of Holder’s fans asked the filmmaker about the “smaller moments” he witnessed in the Trump family that he found surprising, and his response left us not only quite surprised but a bit disturbed as well.
“Eric seemed to be pretty scared of his older brother,” Holder revealed. The filmmaker went on to note that in his experience, Eric Trump was the “least like his father,” while Ivanka and Don Jr. were unsurprisingly “very similar to their old man.”
“Eric was the friendliest,” Holder explained to his followers in the AMA session. “I don’t think Don, Jr. liked me very much.”
One Reddit user asked the filmmaker if he thought there was any “genuine love” in the Trump family. Holder explained that from his vantage point the “pretty unusual family dynamic” within the Trump family was “all about supporting ‘Dad’ at all costs” — which is disturbing, but also right on point for what we already know about the former president and his kids.
At one point, fans questioned Holder as to how he was personally treated by the Trump family. “It’s interesting,” the filmmaker responded. “They are a real estate family from New York. So, they are good at the charm and schmooze… But to be honest, it’s pretty transparent.”
Holder did go on to expose some of the more personal quirks and habits of the former president, including the claim that Donald Trump wears “a huge amount of makeup” that he would spend “a couple of hours each morning” putting on. He also said he certainly noticed Trump’s excessive consumption of burgers and Diet Coke.
Holder ultimately noted in the AMA event that he never interviewed Melania Trump during his work for Unprecedented, and while he spent a bit of time around Tiffany Trump, it wasn’t enough for him to confidently form a personal opinion about the ex-president’s youngest daughter.
