In Yet Another Twist Of Bad Luck For Donald Trump, Ex-President’s Own Former National Security Advisor Has Reportedly Been Interviewed By J6 Committee

Trump is going to be furious.

Over the course of the past few weeks, scandal-ridden ex-President Donald Trump has been hit with a series of some of the most brutal blows he’s undoubtedly ever experienced in his 76 years of life on this earth. I mean, the FBI literally raided his Mar-a-Lago estate that he’s called him in his post-White House days and effectively busted him for being not only a thief but a big, fat liar as well.

I can only imagine he’s sitting around one of his golf resorts or anything, thinking, “Surely it cannot possibly get any worse from here.”

But it can, Donald. It can, it will, and it has.

According to new reporting from NBC News, citing two inside sources who are familiar with the January 6th House Select Committee’s work, the panel has recently officially conducted an interview with none other than Donald Trump’s own former National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, in connection to their ongoing and rapidly mounting investigation into the January 6th attack against the US Capitol building, and Donald Trump’s specific role in inciting the fatal violence.

O’Brien, who was the last national security advisor to serve in Trump’s cabinet in the waning days of his tumultuous presidential term, has served as one of just a very small handful of the ex-president’s former top-level officials to publicly acknowledge that Joe Biden was the clear, fair, and rightful winner of the 2020 presidential election, and has admitted that Trump’s unhinged and ongoing claims of rampant, widespread election fraud simply are not true. Back in November of 2020, O’Brien personally recognized Trump’s election loss when he publicly stated that the National Security Council was preparing for “a very professional transition.”

Just last month, O’Brien’s former deputy, Matthew Pottinger — who resigned in protest in the direct aftermath of the Capitol attack, but agreed to stay on in his position overnight at O’Brien’s request, to allow the then national security advisor to return from a trip — delivered his own testimony before the January 6th Committee. O’Brien himself was originally slated to appear before the House Panel earlier this month.

NBC News reports:

The committee has been trying to find out more about what top Trump administration officials knew about the former president’s intentions on Jan. 6, 2021, and whether Cabinet members discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove him from office afterward, a source said this month. The panel interviewed former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao this month. Chao, the wife of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., also resigned after the violence at the Capitol.”

During the panel’s last public primetime hearing for the season, Committee Vice-Chair Liz Cheney, who recently lost her bid for reelection, said that she expects the explosive public hearings to ultimately resume in the Fall, and had this thinly-veiled warning for the ex-president and all his cronies: “We have far more evidence to share and more to gather. So our committee will spend August pursuing emerging information on multiple fronts before convening further hearings this September.”
