Trump Just Compared The Crowd He Had For Last Year’s 4th Of July Event To To The Crowds MLK Used To Get For His Speeches

This can't be real life.

During Donald Trump’s daily COVID-19 press briefing on Wednesday — supposedly featured to update the public on the pandemic that has taken over forty-six thousand American lives and put tens of millions out of work — the president just wanted you to know about his crowd size for his 4th of July event last year. The two things, of course, are unrelated, but Trump has turned the Coronavirus Task Force briefings into MAGA rallies.

Washington, DC always puts on a show for the Fourth of July each year, but for the first time last year, Trump personally planned and threw together his own Independence Day event to make it all about him. Trump has been doing that during his pressers, too. It’s free airtime, after all, and the election is right around the corner. At least he didn’t brag about the number of Facebook followers this time. Hey, I’m just trying to find a bright side to all of this.

Watch:

Trump is really into crowd sizes, like when he lied about his inauguration crowd size for weeks at the beginning of his presidency. Trump lies about things that are easily disproven, but he just continues down that path while gaslighting the American people. And really, I’m not even going to fact-check Trump’s latest braggadocious claim because it’s irrelevant amid the pandemic that has a country in grief. The dead haven’t even been buried yet, but let’s talk about how popular the least popular president in history is.

And Trump needs to keep Martin Luther King Jr.’s name out of his nasty mouth. King didn’t just inspire the people of his time; he inspired generations of people. Trump also compares himself on a daily basis to former President Barack Obama. Trump’s predecessor, though, brought hope to the U.S., whereas the current president has brought despair.

Sit down, Mr. Trump.
