They're just getting started, Donald.

The upcoming bombshell, highly-publicized hearings by the January 6th House Select Committee are quite literally just around the corner now, prompting the New York Times to pen a deep dive piece on what the American people can expect from the forthcoming explosion. But there’s one tidbit tucked away in Annie Karni and Luke Broadwater’s piece that many may have not picked up on from the get-go, and it could potentially serve as a brutally fatal blow to Trump and his supporters’ claims that the now ex-president had no hand in the violent Capitol riot.

As it turns out, the panel’s witness list is not yet complete.

You read that right. The January 6th House Select Committee is still in negotiations ahead of the publicized hearings that could very well result in some explosive witness appearances from some very key individuals inside Donald Trump’s former presidential administration — and these possible testimonies carry the potential to absolutely destroy Donald Trump’s defense.

We reported just yesterday that the House Committee intends to kick off the televised hearings with “maximum effect” by beginning the first night of the prime time trial with testimonies from key aides to former Vice President Mike Pence. Axios reported that the House Panel hired a highly-regarded former TV executive that is working with them to create a multi-media presentation that the report claims will be “raw enough so that skeptical journalists will find the material fresh, and chew over the disclosures in future coverage.”

The Times now reports that the January 6th Committee has not yet “nailed down the full slate of witnesses,” and this reportedly includes the former acting attorney general who took Bill Barr’s place when he stepped down on the heels of the election.

The NYT reported in August of last year that former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen “emerged as a key witness in multiple investigations that focus on Mr. Trump’s efforts to undermine the results of the election. He has publicly stated that the Justice Department did not find enough fraud to impact the outcome of the election.”

The publication currently reports that attorneys for the House Committee are in attempted negotiations with the former acting AG.

“The panel is waiting for Jeffrey A. Rosen, the former acting attorney general, and Richard P. Donoghue, the former acting deputy attorney general, to respond to formal requests to testify, according to two people briefed on the matter,” Karni and Broadwater report for the Times. “Both Mr. Rosen and Mr. Donoghue have already told multiple congressional committees that Mr. Trump and his allies pressured the department to say falsely that it had found voter fraud and to use its power to undo the results.”

The House Panel is additionally seeking testimony from former White House counsel Pat A. Cipollone, who was involved in arguments with the Trump White House about “sending out letters to multiple state legislatures claiming the election had been stolen and asking them to reconsider certified election results.”

“The committee is still in informal talks with Pat A. Cipollone, the former White House counsel, as well as Byung J. Pak, the former U.S. attorney in Atlanta who abruptly resigned on Jan. 4, 2021, after learning that Mr. Trump planned to fire him for not finding voter fraud, according to those people familiar with the discussions,” the Times report reads.

It’s pretty clear at this point that, as bad as things currently are for Donald Trump, the next few days as we prepare to head into these hearings are about to get a whole lot worse.
