Let’s face it, Donald Trump hasn’t exactly been drowning in support from really any direction following his big 2024 presidential campaign launch, which came hot on the heels of the GOP’s rather dismal performance in the midterm elections. To be entirely frank, it seems as though the Republican Party as a whole has turned its back on the scandal-ridden former guy, as he desperately struggles to gain any campaign steam, or garner any support from even his most reliable demographics and donors.
When it comes down to it, to make matters that much worse for Trump as he struggles his way through this whole fiasco, it’s not just the establishment that has seemingly lost its love for the former reality TV “star.” It seems that Donald Trump is losing his support on a more personal level as well.
Ever since the big campaign launch (that his own daughter allegedly wouldn’t throw her support behind), the struggle has been palpable, even in Trump himself.
People have taken notice of the fact that Trump just… Doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

He’s not holding rallies. He’s not getting out to do any footwork. He’s not doing much to raise any money. Frankly, he’s not campaigning.
Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman recently reported, “I spoke with a half dozen Republicans close to Trump, and the consensus is that his campaign is a ‘mess,’ to borrow a preferred Trump epithet. He is in a weird bunker and doesn’t want to go anywhere. Even the inner circle is worried he’s getting no traction at all.”
It’s not a pretty sight.
But Donald really wants you to think it is.
It seems the washed-up, scandal-ridden former guy just couldn’t take the humiliation anymore, and he’s now taken to his equally struggling Truth Social platform with one of his trademarked unhinged rants, with a promise stuck in the midst of it all to deliver a “big political speech” later today at his Trump Doral property in Miami, as well as “MANY GIANT RALLIES and other events” in an effort to breathe (or rather kick, really) some life into his dead presidential campaign.
“Making a big political speech today at TRUMP DORAL, in Miami,” Trump announced in a Truth Social post this morning. “The Fake News says I am not campaigning very hard. I say they are stupid and corrupt, with the Election still a long time away. But do not fear, MANY GIANT RALLIES and other events coming up soon. It will all be wild and exciting. We will save our Country from DOOM and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
However, according to POLITICO’s Meredith McGraw, it looks like today’s “big political speech” doesn’t actually have much, if anything, to do with Trump’s 2024 campaign, and is instead a speech Trump is set to deliver at the 6th annual conference of Judicial Watch, a right-wing government watchdog organization. Tom Fitton, the highly controversial founder of Judicial Watch, gained infamy over his previous advice to Trump that he did not have to or need to turn over the classified documents he stole from his presidency and hoarded at his Mar-a-Lago resort. This was, of course, advice that Donald Trump took and ran with, resulting in an FBI search and seizure warrant raid at his compound, despite the fact that Fitton is merely a political “activist” and not an attorney or legal expert in any conceivable way.
At this point, Trump isn’t only battling the public criticism of his lackluster campaign, but also the widespread speculation that he isn’t even running with the intent of becoming president again, but rather just to attempt to shield himself from the variety of potential indictments he’s currently facing.
