A whole lot of Donald Trump’s own former people have turned against him and gone public with their tell-all stories, books, and memoirs of what the disgraced ex-president did during his time in the White House. I mean a WHOLE LOTVirtually none of them have had a single good thing to say about the guy or the way he ran the country. However, some of them have already indicated that their devotion to the Republican party outweighs their hatred for Donald Trump.

Take former Trump-era Attorney General Bill Barr, for example. While his recent tell-all was highly critical of his former boss, he’s already publicly admitted that should Donald Trump secure the Republican nomination in 2024, he will vote for him again.

However,  Mark Esper is not one of those.

The former Trump administration Defense Secretary’s new tell-all book, A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times, hit the shelves today and it seems the ex-Pentagon Chief is staying true to his criticisms against the ex-president, in every way.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace today, Esper not only confirmed that he will not vote for Donald Trump again, should he get the Republican nomination in 2024, but went on to perfectly outline his reasons behind his decision.

“I want to talk about the future,” Wallace said to the former Trump-era official. “You said that Donald Trump is not democratic — or he was a danger to our democracy. What is the specific threat he represents to American democracy?”

Esper was quick to outline three minimum requirements he feels should be prerequisites to hold public office — and he doesn’t think Donald Trump has them.

“We’ve got to elect people — whether, it’s certainly the president of the United States, but members of Congress — who have to do a few things. You have to put country before self,” the former Pentagon Chief explained.

“Trump doesn’t do that,” Wallace said.

“No,” Esper answered. “Number two, you have to have integrity and a core set of principles that guide you,” he added, prompting Wallace to interject and add, “I don’t even think people close to him think he has that.”

“And you have to be able to reach across the aisle,” the former Trump official explained. “You have to be willing to work with people from the other party and you have to bring the country together.”

The MSNBC host then asked Esper specifically about 2024.

“If he’s the nominee of the Republican Party in 2024, will you vote for him?” Wallace questioned.

“No,” he answered, without hesitation.
