Trump’s Fear And Desperation Hits A Fever Pitch As He Launches Nasty Truth Social Smear Campaign Against DOJ Special Counsel’s Wife

He's really not handling this news well.

Recently, the bombshell news broke that the US Department of Justice, headed by Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland, has “appointed a special counsel to oversee the criminal investigations into the retention of national defense information at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and parts of the January 6, 2021, insurrection,” per reporting on the matter from CNN.

Scandal-ridden ex-President Donald Trump immediately did not take well to the news. In the direct aftermath of the DOJ announcement, Trump held a makeshift press conference at his Mar-a-Lago country club turned post-White House personal residence — where he donned a literal tuxedo, complete with the black bowtie and all — and delivered a resoundingly dramatic speech/statement on what he called “the never ending Witch Hunt.”

But, as is customary with Donald Trump, once he got started on the topic, he has yet to shut up.

It seems Trump recently learned that the wife of the DOJ-appointed Special Counsel, Justice Department career prosecutor Jack Smith, is actually a very prominent Democratic donor who was personally involved in the making of a documentary on former first lady Michelle Obama.

Trump, of course, takes this to mean that the entire ordeal is yet another personal slight against him, further making him a sad, pathetic, mistreated victim.

Jack Smith’s wife, Katy Chevigny, was listed as a producer on the credits of the 2020 Michelle Obama documentary, “Becoming.” FEC records further show that she donated $2,000 to Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

This was all it took to serve as “proof” for the former president that there is corruption amuck.

Taking to his struggling Truth Social platform with a series of screenshots of Katie’s pro-Democratic tweets, Trump brutally raged against the US Department of Justice, accusing the entity of being corrupt and biased in its investigation into him.

“This is just a small amount of information from the wife of the hard-line Radical Left Special Counsel (prosecutor), an acolyte of Eric Holder and Barack Hussein Obama,” Trump barked in a Truth.

Trump’s whiney Truth Social post effectively ignited a wide-reaching Right-wing smear campaign against the newly appointed Special Counsel and his wife.

The former president’s middle son Eric weighed in on the matter in his own post on his father’s social media platform, writing, “The wife of the Special Counsel Biden chose to investigate @realDonaldTrump (his likely opponent in 2024) reportedly produced the Michelle Obama documentary. Yes America, you are reading this correctly,” accompanied by a screenshot of the Wikipedia page for “Becoming” that shows Chevigny’s producer credit. Eric cited this as some sort of proof of the partisan political witch hunt against his corrupt father.

Conservatives and Right-wing extremists across the country all now have their knickers in a collective twist over the Special Counsel’s wife.

Republican House Rep. Andrew Clyde, who gained notoriety over his comparison of the Capitol insurrectionists to average, everyday tourists, took to Twitter and wrote, “You just can’t make this stuff up. America cannot stand with a corrupt, two-tiered justice system.”

Former Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich weighed in as well:

Devout MAGA Congressman Matt Gaetz, who’s still very much embroiled in his own scandal, sat for an interview with Steve Bannon recently, where he said, “You would think that if the stated purpose to avoid any type of concern about bias were sincere, then they would at least check to see whether or not when you shake the family tree of the special counsel, any virulent Trump haters, Never Trumpers, Biden supporters fall out.”

Of course, this indignation at a “corrupt” spouse was nowhere to be found among the Conservative crowd when it came to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginni. But I suppose what’s good for the Left is not, in fact, good for the Right.
