I have no words.

If there’s anything in the world that the Right loves to complain about more than just about anything else, it’s the “corrupt, fake media.” They love to tout the idea that they stand for a free and fair press — but in reality, they only want a free and fair press so long as that press is saying nice things about them. Outside of flattering reporting, it seems to be that they’d like to treat the US media a la Russia style, where journalists and reporters can be beaten, abused, and jailed for reporting something they don’t like.

That point was made crystal clear today if you ask me when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy held a press conference, during which one journalist was forcibly and seemingly violently removed from the briefing by not one, not two, but FOUR police officers when they dared to ask Republican McCarthy about the controversial, supposedly bipartisan January 6th Commission.

“Minority Leader, you said that the 1960 Revolution created tyranny on the island of Cuba and I am asking you a question,” the reporter stated to McCarthy. “It’s not a Democratic or Republican issue, so why do you oppose the January 6th Commission, sir?”

Video footage being recorded by the journalist in question appears to show him being dragged out of the press briefing before he’s even able to fully finish his question.

In the video, you can’t see who is dragging the reporter out, only that he’s being removed in a seemingly violent manner, as the camera jolts around and his voice seems to shake from the movement.

Co-founder of The Democratic Coalition, Scott Dworkin, tweeted the video accompanied with the caption, “BREAKING: 4 police officers forcibly removed journalist Grant Stern for asking Kevin McCarthy a question—why he opposed the bipartisan Jan 6th Commission. This is outrageous and shouldn’t happen in America. This is what fascists do. Let’s make this viral.”

I can’t help but agree with Dworkin here; this should not be happening in the United States of America. Freedom means freedom. Period.
