If you found yourself holding on to some shred of hope that Donald Trump and members of his administration would somehow, someway be at least a bit more cooperative with the House Democrats’ impeachment investigation than they were with former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, let me just go ahead and suggest that you let that hope go now.
During the course of Mueller’s 2- year Russia probe Trump and his cronies dodged and defied Congressional subpoenas and orders at every opportunity — which ultimately played more than a small part in the whole Trump committed obstruction ordeal.
And now that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, along with the majority of her Congressional colleagues, is steamrolling Trump’s impeachment proceedings, it seems that he and his people are falling back on their old habits once again.
Today Trump’s White House sent a letting to Speaker Pelosi that declared they would not be participating in her impeachment inquiry and they have absolutely no intention of complying with any Congressional subpoenas.

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, in an 8-page letter addressed to the House Speaker and her fellow committee chairs, stated that both the president and the members of his administration “reject your baseless, unconstitutional efforts to overturn the democratic process.”
“Your unprecedented actions have left the President with no choice,” Cipollone wrote. “In order to fulfill his duties to the American people, the Constitution, the Executive Branch, and all future occupants of the Office of the Presidency, President Trump and his Administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances.”
The letter went on to demand that Speaker Pelosi approve the impeachment probe through a House vote.
Pelosi has already made it strikingly clear to everyone involved that she doesn’t need a House vote to continue with her inquiry as there “is no requirement under the Constitution, under House Rules, or House precedent that the whole House vote before proceeding with an impeachment inquiry.”
And besides that fact, a House vote would likely do absolutely nothing to help Trump in the end, as Pelosi’s party holds the majority in the chamber.
But go ahead and keep grasping at those straws, Donnie.
