Secretary of State Mike Pompeo decided to show the world this week what an insufferable asshole he is, mocking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi by tweeting an image of a sobbing Lisa Simpson ripping up the pages of an essay while on Capitol Hill.
The thing is, though, that Pompeo didn’t grasp the meaning behind the episode of the popular show The Simpsons. In that particular moment of the episode titled “Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington” that Pompeo highlighted, Lisa Simpson was losing faith in democracy after watching a politician accept a bribe.
Yeardley Smith, the actress who voices the character of Lisa Simpson, took a shot at Pompeo on Wednesday for “co-opting” the cartoon to troll Pelosi, and she really wants the Secretary of State to just fuck right off.

Smith was responding to Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr.’s tweet after he asked her to explain the scene to Pompeo.

It doesn’t appear that the current administration has any fans who are part of the iconic animated show. Bill Oakley, who was the executive producer and showrunner during the seventh and eighth seasons, took to Twitter to blast Pompeo, too.
“Mr. Secretary of State please do not ever ever ever use Simpsons material in your twitter or watch the show or refer to it in any way,” Oakley tweeted.

Pompeo’s tweet came after Pelosi caged children at the border, lashed out at black athletes, and gifted the wealthy with a tax cut tore up her copy of Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech.
