Defense Secretary Claimed “Pentagon Protects Its Service Members From Retribution” Right Before Col. Vindman Is Fired And Escorted Out Of White House

Weird timing there, Mark.

It would appear that Defense Secretary Mark Esper has never heard the saying “timing is everything,” or perhaps he’s just a liar. Following reports that the White House planned to oust Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman — an impeachment inquiry witness — Esper said the Pentagon protects its service members from retribution.

“We protect all of our persons, service members, from retribution or anything like that,” Esper told reporters at the Pentagon. “We’ve already addressed that in policy and other means.”

Trump also addressed the reports, telling journalists that he was “not happy” with Vindman but he declined to say if he would be removed from his position.

“Well, I’m not happy with him. You think I’m supposed to be happy with him? I’m not. They’ll make that decision. You’ll be hearing. They’ll make a decision,” Trump said before departing for North Carolina.

And just like that, Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council who testified during the House impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump, was “escorted out of the White House” on Friday afternoon and was basically told to fuck off.

Trump was acquitted this week by the Republican-controlled Senate on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress charges.

When asked if Vindman would be welcomed back to the Pentagon, according to The Hill, Esper replied: “We welcome back all of our service members wherever they served, to any assignment they are given.”

Republicans gasped after House Intelligence chair Adam Schiff read the CBS report in which it claimed that threats were issued toward GOP Senators who were thinking of defying Trump in his trial. A confidant of the president’s told the network that Republican senators were warned: “Vote against the president & your head will be on a pike.”

After the acquittal in a trial that disallowed witnesses, the MAGA army went after Republican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney for voting to remove Trump on one of the articles of impeachment.

Then, they went after Vindman, a war hero, and fired his brother as well.

“LTC Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth,” his attorney, David Pressman, said in a statement. “The truth has cost LTC Alexander Vindman his job, his career and his privacy.”

The purge will continue until there’s no one let with a spine to speak out against this lawless “president.”

“Dad, that I’m sitting here today, in the U.S. Capitol talking to our elected professionals is proof that you made the right decision 40 years ago to leave the Soviet Union. Do not worry, I will be fine for telling the truth.”
