Don Jr. Tried To Peddle Donations For His Father’s Big Tech Lawsuit And It Didn’t Go Down Well Among Trump’s Own Supporters

This backfired quickly.

Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he had launched class-action lawsuits against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. The twice-impeached one-term president must know that the lawsuits don’t have any legal standing. Trump immediately started fundraising after the announcement, so it’s obvious as to what he’s really up to — unless you’re the mark. However, some Trump supporters might be coming out of the fog.

Donald Trump Jr. went to Telegram — a messaging app where Trump supporters gather — to beg for donations for his father’s lawsuit, which did not go down well. The Twitter account Patriot Takes, which has partnered with the liberal PAC MeidasTouch, tweets out screen captures from far-right-wing social sites.

Telegram users fired back at Junior, telling the former president’s son that WinRed scammed people in their fundraising efforts. Another user said, “Help a billionaire are you joking.” Another user told Junior that he’s on his own. A Telegram user identifying as Tim said, “So wait, you have to DONATE in order for your dad to sue? He is a BILLIONAIRE! Something isn’t adding up here.”

Twitter users weighed in.

Trump’s entire presidency was a grift. At least some of his supporters are waking up to that fact. It’s kind of late, but we’ll take it. And Trump is only an alleged billionaire. I suspect that he’s drowning in debt.
