FBI Asks For The Public’s Help As They Claim New Orleans Suspect Did Not Act Alone

In the early hours of the morning on a tragic day in New Orleans, a deadly incident unfolded that has shaken the community. On Bourbon Street, at approximately 3:15 AM Central Standard Time, a pickup truck was driven into a crowd, killing at least 10 individuals and injuring many others. What followed was a dramatic exchange of gunfire between the suspect and law enforcement, ending with the suspect’s death. As the investigation deepens, the FBI has released alarming new details, including the belief that the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, may not have acted alone.

“Today at approximately 3:15 AM Central Standard Time, an individual drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing at least 10 individuals and injuring dozens more. After hitting the crowd, he exited the vehicle and fired upon local law enforcement. Law enforcement returned fire, and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. 2 law enforcement officers were injured and transported to local hospitals. The subject has been identified as 42-year-old Samsud Dim Jabbar, a U.S.-born citizen from Texas.”

Details of the Attack and Investigation

The incident took place on Bourbon Street, a location known for its bustling nightlife and heavy crowds. The suspect, later identified as Jabbar, was driving a Ford pickup truck, which appears to have been stolen or otherwise acquired through dubious means. Authorities found an ISIS flag on the vehicle’s trailer hitch, which led them to suspect potential terrorist connections.

The apparent FBI spokesperson said this in the video above:

“An ISIS flag was located on the trailer hitch of the vehicle, and the FBI is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations. Weapons and potential improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were located in the subject’s vehicle. Other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter.”

The discovery of weapons and IEDs further suggests that Jabbar had planned a larger attack. As authorities work to disarm the devices found in the vehicle and the French Quarter, the FBI is also focused on ensuring that there are no additional threats remaining in the area.

The FBI’s Request for Public Assistance

While the investigation progresses, one key point has emerged: the FBI does not believe Jabbar acted alone. In a public appeal, they have asked for the help of citizens who may have witnessed anything unusual in the days leading up to the attack. The agency is specifically seeking information about Jabbar’s associates or any interactions he may have had over the past 72 hours.

They said:

“We’re aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associates. That’s why we need the public’s help. We are asking if anybody has any interactions with Samsud Dinhjar in the last 72 hours that you contact us. The FBI is asking the public’s help. We’re asking anyone who has information, video, or pictures to provide it to the FBI.”

In addition to physical evidence, the FBI is requesting that individuals who may have seen or captured anything suspicious on video or in photographs contact them immediately. The agency has set up both a digital tip line and a phone number to make it easier for people to share their information.
