I can't say that I'm surprised.

According to a new report from ABC News, former Trump national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, made an appearance today before the House Select Committee that is currently investigating the January 6th attack against the US Capitol — a move that’s likely to earn the ire of his former boss, Donald Trump. But per the new report, the former Trump official was less than useful in his testimony, as his attorney claims Flynn pleaded the Fifth Amendment in lieu of answering the Committee’s questions.

Flynn appeared before the House panel in response to a subpoena issued against him by the Committee back in November, in which they requested the former national security advisor’s testimony in addition to any documents he may have in relation to a December 18, 2020, meeting that Flynn allegedly attended with Trump in the Oval Office. The report claims that the possibility of seizing voting machines used in the 2020 election was allegedly discussed during the meeting.

In addition to this meeting, Flynn was also allegedly involved in the efforts to draft up several different memos that ordered various federal agencies to seize said voting machines. Donald Trump ultimately did not sign these documents.

David Warrington, the attorney serving as Flynn’s lead counsel, said his client “exercised his 5th amendment right to decline to answer the Committee’s questions” during his appearance before the panel today.

Allegations have been made claiming that Trump heavily considered ordering the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to seize voting machines used in the 2020 elections from states all across the country as part of his unhinged efforts to overthrow the presidential election results after Joe Biden won. Flynn personally and very publicly pushed for the then-outgoing-president to declare martial law and utilize the United States military to oversee redo elections in battleground states that Trump had lost.

Just one day ahead of the meeting in question, Flynn told Newsmax that Donald Trump “could take military capabilities and he could place them in those states and basically rerun an election in each of those states.”

Following the subpoena issued against him, back in December, Flynn filed a lawsuit against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of the House panel seeking “declaratory and injunctive relief” from the subpoena to avoid delivering his testimony and the requested documents. Flynn’s lawsuit was almost immediately slapped down by a federal judge.

It’s well within your right to plead the 5th, that’s true. But let’s be frank, we all know what it means.
