GOP Group Ran Brutal Ad Attacking Trump For Playing Golf And Tweeting During Pandemic

Ouch.

Donald Trump’s appallingly slow response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed over fifty-six thousand Americans, closed down most states, and brought unemployment numbers through the roof, was recently highlighted in a Lincoln Project video. A group of Republicans, including George Conway, husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, founded the Lincoln Project last year as a group of “Never Trump” Republicans opposed to the president. Conway’s marriage is a mystery; he doesn’t hold back at attacking his wife’s boss.

The new ad displays Trump’s priorities before he finally took the pandemic seriously. Trump’s sycophants try to claim that the president’s impeachment distracted him from the massive coronavirus outbreak, but the Lincoln Project debunks that highly absurd talking point. Trump kept himself busy by golfing and holding campaign rallies, instead of keeping our country safe.

“Coronavirus has now killed three times more Americans than 9/11,” the ad begins. “So what’s Donald Trump been up to? Blaming the impeachment hearings for distracting him from preparing for the pandemic.”

Trump was warned about the pandemic by his own trade adviser Peter Navarro and the World Health Organization in January, but the president never heeds advice even if lives are in danger. Trump, the ad states, “had plenty to do, like campaign rallies and golfing.”

The “day before the first American died, where was Trump? Where do you think he was?” the ad continues. “At another rally. By March, the world was calling coronavirus a pandemic. Where was Trump? On Twitter, as usual, blaming everyone else.”

Trump “just didn’t care. He still doesn’t. He was never distracted. And Americans have been paying attention,” the video concludes.

Watch:

“The President’s dishonest, incompetent, and delusional press conferences have veered into disturbing territory. The President is aware he lacks the competency to deal with this crisis, though he refuses to hold himself accountable. Instead, he’d rather place blame for his ineptitude on an irrelevant issue,” said Reed Galen, a co-founder of The Lincoln Project.

Some Trump supporters are waking up from the fog, but others continue to fall in line behind their president no matter what. The failed frozen steak salesman didn’t create the virus, but he neglected to respond to a life and death issue. And Trump still isn’t taking the pandemic seriously. He’s too busy bragging about his ratings while Americans are dying.
