As the apparent trend among GOPers deepens, yet another Republican congressional candidate has been hit with brutally heinous allegations that have left us with a sick pit in our stomachs.

According to a disturbing new report from the Associated Press, former Missouri Governor turned leading Republican Senate candidate Eric Greitens has been accused by his ex-wife of being extremely physically abusive and displaying such “unstable and coercive behavior” that those around him had no choice but to take steps to limit his access to firearms, per court records.

Sheena Greitens, the ex-wife to Eric Greitens and public affairs professor at the University of Texas, reportedly sought a divorce from Eric in 2018, following a public sex scandal on Eric’s end that resulted in his resignation from his position as governor. Now, Sheena how submitted a sworn affidavit in connection to an ongoing child custody dispute in Missouri, in which, among other things, she is seeking to have the case moved to the Austin area in an effort to protect her children and their privacy as her ex-husband barrels forward with a political comeback.

Eric has stated from his Twitter account, “I am seeking full custody of my sons, and for their sake, I will continue to pray for their mother and hope that she gets the help that she needs.”

Yesterday, Eric’s attorney called on a judge to block his ex-wife’s affidavit from public view, claiming that open access to the document would cause “irreparable harm to his reputation and his candidacy.”

Upon reading the affidavit, it’s clear that his ex-wife’s very serious accusations will very likely pose a huge challenge to Eric’s attempts at a new political career.

Sheena Greitens’ document describes her ex-husband as a heinously abusive individual to both herself and their children, who attempted to use his political power to threaten and intimidate her as well as take custody of their children.

“Prior to our divorce, during an argument in late April 2018, Eric knocked me down and confiscated my cell phone, wallet and keys so that I was unable to call for help or extricate myself and our children from our home,” Sheena alleges. “I became afraid for my safety and that of our children at our home,” she wrote, later adding that his “behavior included physical violence toward our children, such as cuffing our then-3-year-old son across the face at the dinner table in front of me and yanking him around by his hair.”

She further alleged that in 2019, one of their sons came back from a visit with Eric “with a swollen face, bleeding gums and loose tooth.”

“He said Dad had hit him; however, Eric said they were roughhousing and it had been an accident,” Sheena wrote, claiming that the child’s tooth later had to be removed.

Eric’s ex-wife goes on to note that his mental state became so worrisome following his resignation from his position as governor, that he purchased a firearm that she was unable to locate and threatened to kill himself “unless I provided specific public political support.”

She claims that Eric’s behavior became so unhinged that on three separate occasions in February, April, and May 2018, “multiple people other than myself were worried enough to intervene to limit Eric’s access to firearms.”

“I started sleeping in my children’s room simply to try to keep them safe,” Sheena wrote.
