Gov. Greg Abbott Reportedly Attended A Fundraiser Hours After Uvalde School Shooting While Parents Where Submitting DNA To Identify Their Dead Children

There's no excuse for this.

In the wake of a tragedy like the Texas school shooting in this nation, it is very easy to very quickly get to a point where you find yourself thinking — some of these people could not possibly get any worse.

When it comes to the Republican side of the proverbial fence in the US, we almost instantly see some of the most notable names on the Right barging their way onto the scenThursdae to declare, “Yea, thoughts and prayers about your kids, but keep your mitts off our guns.”

After an 18-year-old high school dropout turned mass shooter opened fire on Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, this week — where he barricaded himself inside a 4th-grade classroom and shot and killed 19 innocent children and 2 teachers — the Conservative response was instantaneous and it was exactly what we unfortunately expected.

We saw so many of them offering up empty thoughts, prayers, and Bible verses. We saw literal lawmakers taking to the media to blame mental health, rap music, and video games — but not the guns. Never the guns. We watched in horror as a United States congressman took to Twitter and openly threatened the President of the United States with gun violence if Biden and his so-called woke Left posse came after their 2nd Amendment rights.

We’ve genuinely reached a point, in less than 2 short days after the mass murder, where it feels like these people could not possibly get any worse. They have sunk so far down that there’s nowhere left to go.

But they can. They can, and they will.

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has been at the epicenter of a lot of rightfully earned backlash on the heels of the Uvalde school shooting — like when he publicly stated during a presser that this shooting came down to a mental health problem, yet conveniently left out the part where he slashed millions from the state’s mental health funding this year.

Abbott’s behavior, not only in the direct aftermath of the Uvalde mass shooting but with regard to gun control in the US as a whole, has reached such an abhorrent fever pitch that even his Democratic gubernatorial opponent, Beto O’Rourke, crashed his press conference and confronted the GOP Texas leader for “doing nothing” to staunch the bleeding; ultimately getting himself kicked out of the briefing.

But Abbott still gets worse.

According to a deeply disturbing report from Texas Tribune, Governor Greg Abbott attended a re-election campaign fundraising event in East Texas, just mere short hours after a gunman opened fire on Robb Elementary School and claimed 21 lives, just 300 miles down the road from where he was cashing in on donors.

Abbott’s campaign has confirmed that they’ve postponed all fundraising events going forward, but that did nothing to stop the governor from getting his ass ripped for, as Beto O’Rourke so aptly described it, “counting dollars while they were counting bodies.”

Abbott touched on the topic of the ill-timed fundraising event during his presser yesterday, stating, “On the way back to Austin, I stopped and let people know that I could not stay, that I needed to go and I wanted them to know what happened and get back to Austin so I could continue to my collaboration with Texas law enforcement.”

Abbott’s appearance at the campaign event, where he undoubtedly lined his pockets with a little more blood-covered cash, took place around the same time that Uvalde families were lining up to give DNA swabs in an effort to match families to the mangled bodies of dead children.

You have so much blood on your hands, Greg.
