J.D. Vance lived in a deeply impoverished and troubled family. We’ve heard this from him and others time and again. So you’d think he would have a reasonable understanding of what’s truly “relatable” to the common people. But judging from his recent social media post, he apparently doesn’t. And his ignorance caught the attention of lots of people on X (formerly Twitter).
This includes MeidasTouch.com’s editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski, who’s done an excellent job of skewering Donald Trump and his associates over the years.
“He pretended to work for 15 minutes at a closed restaurant, didn’t wash his hands or wear hair protection b4 handling food after shaking hands with people, then attended the game for free in a luxury suite before flying home on his private jet other people paid for. So relatable,” he wrote.

Where does Vance even get off saying this? Trump played around with french fries for a few minutes without a hair net and without any gloves while COVID has become the new normal largely because of his failures as president. He sat in a special corporate box and enjoyed luxurious lodging, all for free and flew home in his private jet, which he never paid for.

But Vance thinks this is relatable. It is if you’re Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. For the rest of us who are slaves to the corporate system, who have to work for our mashed potatoes, this is as foreign as things get. If Trump is elected, we can expect more of this shoved in our faces.
And I truly don’t understand why there are working-class people who even like Donald Trump. The man views us as peons and that’s about it. He’s not going to allow the middle class and especially not the poor attach themselves to his coattails.
So social media users were quick to tell Vance a thing or two.

@Mamabenergy2 reminded us that Trump’s little PR scheme was worthless:
“Not to mention, workers didn’t get to work that day, so they probably weren’t paid, all for a propaganda stunt!”

@cagomez noted:
“Why could I easily see JD Vance explaining how Trump posting AI pictures of himself doing things he has never done in real life as also a way to ‘connect with the voters’?’

@thegoodfello noted this absurd stunt was meant to mock Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic presidential opponent.
“AND he did it mock VP Harris for working at McDonald’s which is pretty much mocking ALL low wage employees.”

But @HolliWinters28 may have made the funniest observation:
“And Kamala Harris attended church Sunday. If Trump ever walked inside a church, the cross would wither.”

All of these comments show why Trump and Vance are a terrible choice for those of us in the working-class. Trump will do whatever he can to bolster the fortunes of his billionaire golfing buddies and Vance, being the brown-noser that he is, will go right along. He seems to have forgotten where he came from, despite his near-constant talking about it.
Unlike Fred Trump Sr., Donald Trump’s father, Kamala Harris’s dad, Donald J. Harris and her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan, both immigrants, worked their way from the ground up. Donald, now retired, was a respected Emeritus Professor of Economics at Stanford University.
So in other words, she comes from parents who struggled but succeeded. Donald Trump has never struggled a day in his life. He does not know that kind of choice. J.D. Vance, on the other hand, knows about poverty, about struggling. And that means he should know better.
Shame on him.
