Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov sparred with fellow The Five co-host Jeanine Pirro Thursday after Pirro insisted nobody was saying the New Orleans terrorist was an illegal immigrant. Even if people, including a certain tangerine-faced soon-to-be convicted felon-in-chief, claimed he was.
Both were reacting to President Joe Biden’s statement on the terrorist attack on New Year’s Day in New Orleans, where 14 people died and dozens were injured, Mediaite reports. The fun began when Tarlov said, “When you say, ‘I’m embarrassed watching Joe Biden,’ I’m not embarrassed seeing someone stand up there and saying, ‘Let’s wait for some facts here,’ because Donald Trump was out there and he said…”
Pirro, however, is allergic to facts, and it’s been alleged that she’s been drunk on the air. It’s hard to tell if that was the case this time because she was too busy interrupting Tarlov.
“No, he assured Americans all was well,” Pirro complained.

Tarlov fired back, “No, listen to all of the comments that he made and the statements which said we need to make sure we have the right facts,’ and the right facts were that the guy in New Orleans was an American. He wasn’t an illegal.”
The verbal boxing match continued, with Pirro asserting “No one’s saying he wasn’t,” and Tarlov retorting “That’s not true! There have been Republicans who have been on TV today talking about how this was an open border problem.” Because of course, Republicans are also allergic to facts and seem determined to blame illegal immigrants for everything that happens in this country.
This led Pirro to go from factually challenged to evidence-free.
“Seventy-five percent of the arrests in New York City are illegals! Let’s stop playing games!” Pirro claimed, and Tarlov fired back, “Move the goalposts! Move them as far as you want. Sugar Bowl-wide! Whatever.”
And the fact is, even though Republicans have been blaming illegal immigrants for the attack, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the alleged perpetrator, was a U.S. citizen who was born in Texas. This hasn’t prevented such prominent Republicans as President-Elect Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), from blaming the attack on illegal immigrants, earlier this week.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true,” wrote President-elect Donald Trump in a statement after the attack. “Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!”
Johnson (R-La.) also referred to “the wide open border” on a Fox Business segment on the attack, and Trump border czar nominee Tom Homan claimed “This country’s in grave danger. We need to secure that border.”House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) also mentioned “the wide open border” during a Fox Business segment on the attack, while Trump border czar nominee Tom Homan said, “This country’s in grave danger. We need to secure that border.”
Fox News also incorrectly told viewers that the suspect had crossed the southern border before correcting the inaccurate claim, according to AFP. And Fox’s inept reporting was parroted by many Republicans, including the queen of ineptitude, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who posted “New Orleans terrorist attacker is said to have come across the border in Eagle Pass TWO DAYS AGO!!! Shut the border down!!!”

It’s really a wonder that this woman can walk and chew gum at the same time. Yet she’s in Congress. It should come as no surprise that I think the U.S. is really f*cked.
But the Tarlov-Pirro fight gives me hope anyway. You can watch the clip here.
