Kellyanne Conway Uses MLK’s Work On Civil Rights To Slam Impeachment Process

Let's not ever compare Trump to MLK again, Kellyanne, mkay?

Instead of honoring Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy today, Donald Trump spent his time shitposting on Twitter. In contrast, Democratic presidential contenders honored MLK’s birthday at a Baptist church Monday and linked arms with each other and civil rights leaders in a march of tens of thousands to the Statehouse. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren even shook hands, ending rumors of a permanent rift between the two. The White House schedule, though, showed that Trump had no plans to observe the late civil rights icon’s birthday.

Trump did manage to share a tweet from the White House Twitter account, pledging to “pause” in honor of MLK day, then, of course, he quickly unleashed a tweet regarding the “Lobby Day Rally,” in which thousands of armed gun-rights activists, militia group members, and white supremacists have descended on Richmond, Virginia. Trump has given them a shout out before, of course.

Then Trump shared this video:

White House crypt keeper Kellyanne Conway somehow told reporters that Trump didn’t have anything scheduled to observe MLK day because the Twitter-addicted “president” is busy “preparing for Davos,” and then she went on to compare the impeachment process to the late civil rights leader’s struggles.

“Well, I can tell you that the president is preparing for Davos and agrees with many of the things that Dr. Martin Luther King stood for and agreed with for many years, including unity and equality,” Kellyanne said. “And he’s not the one trying to tear the country apart through an impeachment process and a lack of substance that really is very shameful at this point.”

“I’ve held my opinion on it for a very long time,” she continued, “but when you see the articles of impeachment that came out, I don’t think it was within Dr. King’s vision to have Americans dragged through a process where the president is not going to be removed from office, is not being charged with bribery, extortion, high crimes or misdemeanors.”

“And I think that anybody who cares about ‘and justice for all’ on today or any day of the year will appreciate the fact that the president now will have a full-throttle defense on the facts,” she added.

Watch:

Kellyanne’s husband apparently disagrees with her.

It’s laughable that Conway claims that Trump is some sort of unifying force and supports equal rights, but it’s cute that she managed to squeeze in that it’s her birthday. Trump doesn’t know anything about sacrifice but he does know a lot about profiting from the presidency.
