Lara Trump Drops Response To Wild Barron Conspiracy Theory

The speculation never stopped

Barron Trump is 20 years old, six foot seven, rarely photographed and almost never heard from publicly. In the absence of information, the internet has filled the gap with considerable creativity.

The leading theory, apparently, is that he is a time traveler from the 19th century. Lara Trump went on her show this week to address it.

“I’m not trying to ruin anybody or rain on any parades here,” Lara said on The Right View. “Barron Trump is not a time traveler. Sorry to say it. I’m sorry, I broke a lot of people’s hearts today.”

She then issued a challenge that the time travel community has yet to meet. “Name me one time traveler. Name me anybody who actually can say that that’s a real thing? It doesn’t exist but people have gotten so far off the rails on this ‘Barron being a time traveler’ thing. I don’t know what to tell you. I think it’s crazy. I’ve known Barron for 18 years, OK, he’s not a time traveler.”

The origin of the theory is more literary than conspiratorial, which is part of what gives it its peculiar staying power. The conspiracy connects Barron to two 19th-century novels by American lawyer and author Ingersoll Lockwood, published in 1889 and 1893, which feature a wealthy boy adventurer named Baron Trump who lives at Castle Trump, travels with a mentor named Don and has a dog named Bulger.

The name, the castle, the mentor named Don and the general energy of a precocious child who goes everywhere and offends everyone he meets were enough for a significant portion of the internet to construct a theory and defend it at length.

A third Lockwood novel, titled 1900, or The Last President, concerns a populist outsider winning a US presidential election and bringing about the downfall of the republic.

The Lockwood trifecta has been discussed by Joe Rogan, among others, and Lara compared those who believe it to Moon landing deniers and 9/11 conspiracy theorists, which is a spectrum of commitment she apparently felt was necessary to establish.

Barron’s mystique is largely self-generated. Lara has described him as a “sleeper” who stays low profile because he understands there is significant public interest in him. “He knows what’s going on out there. He gets it. He’s funny. He turned out to be a really great kid. Don’t sleep on Barron, he’s the best,” she said on an earlier episode of her show.
