Melania Trump Told Quarantined Americans To “Read A Book” And Twitter Wasn’t Impressed: “Well If It Isn’t Melania Antoinette”

How very 'Let them eat cake' of you.

Honestly, I’ve compared First Lady Melania Trump to former Queen of France Marie Antoinette more times than I’m willing to admit. You know, the one who found herself on trial for treason and left and made some seriously disturbing, but false sexual abuse allegations against her own son? The one whose country was literally starving as a result of a bread shortage due to poor crops and rodents and a slew of other problems that she refused to address from her position of power and her only response was “Let them eat cake!”

Yea. Her. You’ve got to admit, that “I don’t really care. Do you?” saying rings strikingly similar to “Let them eat cake!” doesn’t it?

I thought so too.

“Sure, the nation I’m supposed to be in charge of is one huge, stinky dumpster fire. But I have cake and gold-plated toilet seats so why should I give a damn?!”

In a move that only served to strengthen my theory, Melania donned her Antoinette wig a while back when she penned a tweet offering up suggestions to Americans suffering the effects of mass quarantines — many of which are out of work and struggling to determine how they’re going to care for their families during this time — complete with “read a book.”

Because reading a book always helps me when they’re about to shut my electricity off.

“Consider taking advantage of time working from home to connect with your loved ones via email or FaceTime, spend time w family, or work on your well-being by reading a book or spending time on a hobby,” Melania’s sickeningly tone-deaf tweet read, reminding us all that she’s an over-privileged, good for nothing, waste of space when it comes down to it.

Unsurprisingly enough, the thousands of Twitter users that are scared to death right now didn’t exactly take well to her “suggestions” and I’m not the only one picking up on those “Let them eat cake” vibes:

This is just a gentle reminder, folks, she “doesn’t really care.”
