President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, made a pit stop in North Carolina to visit victims whose lives were upended by Hurricane Helene last year. And while we could focus on the devastation brought by the Hurricane, the main focus seems to be on Melania’s outfit, which is similar to the one she wore at a Texas detention center in 2018. One that sparked a controversy.
You know which one I’m referring to—the green jacket with the quote, “I really don’t care. Do u?” Yeah. That one.
Oh sure, the hurricane tore a path of devastation along the Gulf Coast up into the mountains of North Carolina. And yes, the city of Asheville faced record-breaking flooding and power outages and a death toll in the state that reached 104. But for some reason, Melania decided to wear a large green puffer jacket that, according to some, is quite similar to the aforementioned jacket. She accentuated the Leonard Puffer Coat from Rag & Bone (a pricey $995) with a pair of black skinny jeans, black combat boots, a black beanie, and aviator sunglasses, according to The IrishStar.
In other words, an outfit you don’t want to wear when visiting hurricane victims whose lives have been ruined.

Melania doesn’t care what her outfits suggest or she is ignorant. I doubt the latter is true.
In her recent memoir, Melania, the First Lady opens up about the incident, saying she didn’t target the migrants. Instead, she claims it was intended for the media sites that use “anonymously sourced reporting.”
She opened up about the incident in her recent memoir Melania, saying that it wasn’t targeted at the migrants. Instead, it was about media sites that use “anonymously sourced reporting.”
“I was determined… not to let the media’s false narratives affect my mission to help the children and families at the border,” she wrote. “In fact, I decided to let them know that their criticism would never stop me from doing what I feel is right. To make the point, I wore a particular jacket as I boarded the plane, a jacket that quickly became famous.”
But even though Melania deliberately tries to send messages via her attire, she also says that she wishes people didn’t focus so much on her clothing. She relayed this to reporters in 2018 while visiting Africa, saying she wishes people would “focus on what I do, not what I wear.”
But that might not be such a good look either since Melania’s crypto campaigns are a symbol of her grift, and her husband’s PAC paid her French-born stylist $260,000 for “strategy consulting.”
So, if we focus on what Melania does, how does that look?
According to Kate Bennett, author of Free, Melania, even if the First Lady would prefer that we pay attention to what she does, she still speaks through her clothing anyway. She told CNN Melania’s mindset is “Might as well send a message of, ‘I’m serious this time, not messing around — and let’s get to it.’”
Well, I’m getting to it. I’m telling you how this woman is. She’s on message as someone who is cold and uncaring. That’s what she’s telling us.
I really don’t care. Do u?
