Former President Donald Trump, who previously claimed that he was “immune” to Covid-19 after contracting the disease last fall, was quietly vaccinated in January. Now, many politicians on the left and right (mostly on the left) have tweeted selfies of them being vaccinated to encourage Americans to step up. In contrast, the twice-impeached one-term president failed to urge Americans to be vaccinated amid the raging pandemic.

Former vice president Mike Pence, who received his initial vaccine dose on live television last December, encouraged young conservatives to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Now, let me say this about the vaccine: I got the shot. My family got the shot. And I want to encourage anyone here who hasn’t gotten the shot who’s eligible to go get it. And if you’re not sure about it, go ask your doctor and get the very best advice you can,” Pence told the Young America Foundation’s National Conservative Student Conference this week.

Pence tweeted out a Newsmax article about that. Still, it wasn’t well-received from Trump supporters who seem to think that the former vice president shouldn’t have certified Joe Biden after he defeated the now-former president in both the electoral and popular vote. Also, quite a few Trump supporters wanted to hang Pence when they stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Pence’s tweet didn’t go down well.

At least Pence is trying, but he decided to tie himself to the most toxic person in politics, and the former vice president enabled that shit show of a presidency.
