Mike Pence Was Just Disinvited From Wisconsin Lutheran Commencement Speech Amid Kenosha Unrest: We Have “Decided To Present A Different Speaker”

Sounds like a good idea.

Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee just disinvited Vice President Mike Pence for a commencement event he was scheduled to give this week. I can’t imagine why Pence thought it was a good idea to make an appearance anywhere in that area. Donald Trump lights a match, retreats to his bunker, then pops his head out to lash out at everyone who got burned from the fire. Well, such is the case in Kenosha, Wisconsin, amid civil unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake – a Black man who was repeatedly shot in the back by police. The college gave Pence a pass in its statement.

“Wisconsin Lutheran College today announced that after further review with careful consideration of the escalating events in Kenosha, the WLC Board of Regents and the College’s Administration have jointly decided to present a different speaker instead of the Vice President of the United States, Michael R. Pence, at the Saturday, August 29, 2020, commencement,” the statement reads. “The College is pleased to announce that Rev. Mark Jeske of St. Marcus Lutheran Church has agreed to serve as the commencement speaker.”

That’s probably a good idea after 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse decided to take his rifle, travel to Wisconsin amid the protests, killing two protestors, and injure a third demonstrator. And some conservatives have been propping up Rittenhouse — who was charged with murder — as some sort of hero.

As far as Pence is concerned, Trump likely picked him as his veep choice to pander to evangelicals. But, the Vice President has taken another path instead of following the teachings of Jesus. Pence appears to have replaced his God with Donald J. Trump as he worships at the president’s altar daily.  During Pence’s Republican National Convention speech, he used the death of a federal officer to smear protesters. Furthermore, Pence failed to mention that a member of the right-wing “boogaloo” movement was charged in June with the officer’s killing. So yeah, the college made the right decision. One could say the college canceled Mike Pence.

Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, remains hospitalized in serious condition, and his family reported that he is paralyzed from the waist down.
