Mitt Romney Is Reportedly The Only Senate Republican Not Included In Trump’s Task Force To Reopen The Economy

He's such a petty little man.

Donald Trump has been more than a little miffed with Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney after he ended up having more guts than all his GOP colleagues combined and voted in favor of removing Trump from office during his formal Senate trial, on the heels of his official impeachment in the House.

It’s no surprise, really. Donald Trump has a real knack for holding a big grudge against the pettiest things imaginable. Lord knows he’s going to hang on to it if someone votes in favor of kicking him out of his position of power.

But now that Trump is putting together a task force of his GOP cronies to help in the effort to reopen the United States economy, it seems that Donald’s grudge may be turning into an attempt to exact some revenge.

According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Romney is the only GOP senator who wasn’t included when Trump put together his economy task force.

Marianne Levine, Sarah Ferris, and Melanie Zanona write of Trump’s plan in a Politico report, “The Trump administration is inviting a bipartisan crew of lawmakers to participate in a task force to address the central question of when the country should return to normal amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”

But Wall Street Journal’s Rebecca Ballhaus was quick to point out that one key GOP senator wasn’t included in that roundup.

“The White House announces that all Senate Republicans except Mitt Romney—who voted to impeach Trump on one of two counts in February—have been invited to join a bipartisan task force on reopening the economy,” Ballhaus tweeted this evening.

It’s pretty clear that from this point forward, Trump will always see Romney as the enemy. No matter which side of the political fence he’s on.
