An underrated aspect of the Biden era, at least in the last two years, is that the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has failed at most of its objectives.
After Democrats controlled both houses of Congress in the first two years of the Biden-Harris presidency, the GOP captured the House majority in the 2022 midterms. However, the majority was just a handful of seats, while Democrats maintained control of the Senate. Hence, the House GOP couldn’t carry out any sophisticated brinksmanship involving the debt ceiling, as they did during the Clinton and Obama presidencies when the Republican majorities were much larger.
This may be the most failed Congress in American history, but I have plenty of accomplishments, including:
✅ Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas
✅ Introducing multiple impeachment articles against Joe Biden
✅ Bringing millions of $’s back to NW GA
✅ Holding government… pic.twitter.com/4N3nAtxkH6

Also, House Republicans spent much of the first year of their majority fighting among themselves, with Kevin McCarthy elected speaker after 15 ballots, facing a constant rebellion from his right flank, and ultimately getting deposed just a few months into his tenure. Meanwhile, the House GOP pursued a buffoonish impeachment inquiry into Biden, alleging foreign bribes, when it was very clear all along that they didn’t have the goods.

The latest failed effort by the House GOP was a half-hearted push to threaten a government shutdown without the passage of draconian election security legislation. That ended with Speaker Mike Johnson agreeing to a three-month stopgap spending measure.
Unhappy with this turn of events was Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), thought of as a hardcore MAGA loyalist, although she was allied with former Speaker McCarthy and was removed from the House Freedom Caucus in 2023.
Greene this week unloaded on Johnson, calling him the “speaker for the Democrats” and that Republicans might not deserve electoral support.
“I think a lot of people are waking up to the news this morning and realizing that, you know something, MTG was right,” Greene said on the War Room podcast. “And I was right, I just was early on my motion to vacate on Mike Johnson, but everybody, everyone knows it now.”
Greene also ripped her colleagues for failing to defund the FBI.
“He has delivered that through his actions of fully funding the Biden-Harris administration, fully funding the weaponized DOJ, fully funding the FBI that had agents and was involved in January 6th and raided Mar-a-Lago and has raided a lot of January 6th defendant homes,” Greene said of Johnson.
While she called for future primary challenges against fellow Republicans, Greene stopped short of telling voters to avoid voting Republican.
Mike Johnson sounds like he doesn’t believe himself as he promises to pass a CR budget today to avert a government shutdown. (He previously said he wouldn’t do CRs as Speaker).

“I don’t think Republicans deserve to be reelected,” she said, although she called it a “double-edged sword.”
“We have to elect President Trump in order to control the federal government, in order to take back all of these huge agencies and departments and set the course right,” she added. “Look, vote for President Trump like your life depends on it, and then hold your nose and vote for that RINO that you absolutely hate, because we need a good tax code in place.”
The War Room podcast is hosted by Steve Bannon, but because Bannon is currently in jail on contempt charges, it had a guest host.
