Just when Trump undoubtedly thought things couldn’t possibly get much worse for him — what with his official impeachment and impending trial in the Senate and that whole putting us on the brink of a war that he has no idea how to handle, business — federal prosecutors have now dropped yet another ticking time bomb right in his lap, revealing today that they are gearing up to release some of the evidence procured by FBI agents in the course of their investigation into Roger Stone that has been kept secret up until this point.

Per a new report from Courthouse News, a group of various media outlets has now opened a lawsuit in an effort to force the release of materials that were seized as evidence from the former 2016 campaign manager and longtime Trump crony as part of search and seizure warrants executed by the FBI against Stone in connection to Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation — all of which was immediately place under seal at the time.

Prosecutors have now informed a judge that they are ready and prepared to release this secret evidence.

Of course, the release of such materials did not go without some pushback — with Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Zelinsky making the argument that the release of said evidence would potentially put ongoing investigations into jeopardy as well as put the privacy of others that have been and continue to be a part of Stone’s case at risk.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper who handled the case of the sealed evidence agreed to allow the US government the 60-day timeline they requested to turn over the evidence in question to various media outlets to undoubtedly make public.

Stone was one of several longtime Trump associates who found themselves in for more trouble than I’m sure they were prepared for as a result of former Special Counsel Mueller’s Russia investigation. Back in November, Stone was officially convicted on seven different counts in connection to the investigation, including but not limited to witness tampering and obstruction of justice. (All of which I’m sure he’s rather miffed at Donnie over, considering number 45 has a bad habit of obstructing justice and tampering with witnesses at every given opportunity.)

Stone is set to be sentenced for his crimes next month.
