NYT Journalist Reports, Per Insider’s New Book, Donald Trump Had McDonald’s Brought To Walter Reed While He Was Sick In The Hospital

This is insane.

Despite Mark Meadows’ public claims that his new tell-all book is apparently supposed to help defend the ex-president, it seems the guy honestly just packed the thing chock full of embarrassing shit.

According to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who has apparently been reading the former Trump Chief of Staff’s upcoming new book (bless her soul for doing the hard part for us), ex-President Donald Trump was sick as a dog with COVID, admitted into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment, but apparently, even that wasn’t enough to make him miss his beloved McDonald’s meal.

Taking to Twitter last night, as she was apparently pouring through Meadows’ book, Haberman wrote, “Trump had McDonald’s brought to Walter Reed after the Regeneron started kicking in, per Meadows.”

She goes on to add that “They had to eat with face shields on at the doctor’s orders, which didn’t thrill any of them.”

Of course, ex-President Trump’s terrible eating habits aren’t news to anyone at this point, as we’ve long known of his obsessions with McDonald’s meals, Diet Coke, and well-cooked steak with ketchup. Even Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, once claimed that on Air Force One “there were four major food groups: McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, and Diet Coke.”

Lewandowski went on to claim that Trump’s typical McDonald’s order consisted of “two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted.” The Atlantic covered this revelation and noted that this particular order actually consists of a staggering 2,400 calories, with double the daily recommended average of sodium. It’s also been reported that Trump often tasked the White House kitchen staff with making similar meals for him. And, of course, infamously served the Clemson Tigers national champion football team a spread of fast food at the White House.

Frankly, it’s no real surprise that Donald Trump ended up hospitalized with his COVID infection, as the CDC notes that obesity is a risk factor with the virus and can potentially triple the risk of hospitalization with a coronavirus infection. Given the way we know Donald Trump eats, it’s honestly a thousand wonders he ever made it out of Walter Reed.

Meadows himself has found himself at the center of the news cycle here lately, after his revelation that then-President Donald Trump apparently tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of his first debate with then-candidate Joe Biden — though, Meadows has since tried to backtrack and claim that they were false positives, and Trump has, of course, vehemently denied the claim.

Lord only knows what he’ll have to say about this.
