Former President Donald Trump lost the election nearly seven months ago, and he still hasn’t conceded the race to Joe Biden, who won both the popular and electoral vote. The twice impeached one-term president is now a blogger who uses his site to insist that the election was rigged. Kraken attorney Sidney Powell has claimed that Trump “can be reinstated,” and President Biden will get thrown out of the White House. Disgraced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn called for a military coup like “what happened in Myanmar” to remove President Biden from the White House and reinstall Trump. Flynn walked back those remarks after a firestorm of attention.
And now, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted that Trump is “telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August.”
This is delusional, but it will feed his cult-like base. And hey, he needs to keep those donations coming in.
Trump has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August (no that isn’t how it works but simply sharing the information). https://t.co/kaXSXKnpF0

Trump’s thinking is somewhat tied to the possibility of an upcoming indictment.
It isn’t happening in a vacuum. It is happening as he faced the possibility of an indictment from the Manhattan DA.

But he is not putting out statements about the “audits” in states just for the sake of it. He’s been laser focused on them, according to several people who’ve spoken with him (as well as WaPo reporting a few weeks ago).

Of course, nothing of the sort is going to happen. Widespread voter fraud doesn’t exist. Trump has presented no evidence on his blog to back up his wild-eyed claims of a “rigged” election. What is real is that the New York Attorney General’s investigation into the Trump Organization “is no longer purely civil in nature,” and it has officially elevated to a “criminal” probe. Trump is worried about facing consequences. That’s something his privileged ass isn’t used to, but he’d better buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
