Donald Trump’s rally on Thursday night in Colorado Springs, CO, was surreal to watch. The former reality show star’s rallies are always bonkers but last night’s event was like venturing onto the set of the Twilight Zone with no way to escape from the madness. Trump even called for the impeachment of former President Barack Obama and spent nearly 30 minutes ranting over a Fox News segment that was critical of him.

Trump then lashed out at the Oscar committee for awarding Bong Joon-ho’s movie an Academy Award for Best Picture, the first time a non-English language film has received that honor. The movie picked up other awards, too.

“How bad were the Academy Awards this year?” Trump asked, which prompted boos from the MAGA crowd. “Did you see them? And the winner is a movie from South Korea. What the hell was that all about?”

“We got enough problems with South Korea with trade,” Trump continued.”On top of it, they give them the best movie of the year. Was it good? I don’t know.”

“Can we get, like, Gone With the Wind back, please?” Trump added. “Sunset Boulevard. So many great movies.”

The movie studio behind the South Korean film used its official Twitter account to fire back at Trump. “Understandable, he can’t read,” Neon tweeted.

There’s a lot to unpack here since Trump bashed a film that he admitted he hasn’t seen. Parasite, in a nutshell, is basically about a family of grifters who gain employment in a house by pretending to be something they are not. Then chaos ensues. Sound familiar? And of course, he praised Gone With The Wind, a film that glorified slavery and stereotyped African-Americans, and said he wants to bring that movie “back.” That was just a shoutout to his confederate flag humping base.
