The former boss of Dave Depape — the suspect who was arrested in connection to last week’s brutal, “violent” attack against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul in their San Francisco, CA, home — has now spoken out and confirmed that his former employee turned violent assailant was obsessed with “the MAGA fantasy” and subscribed to multiple QAnon fueled conspiracy theories.
Late last week, the gut-wrenching news broke that the San Fransisco home House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shares with her husband Paul was broken into by 42-year-old suspect David DePape — who “violently” assaulted Speaker Pelosi’s husband, resulting in Paul Pelosi reportedly requiring surgery in the hospital, as DePape searched for the Democratic House Speaker throughout their California home, demanding of Paul, “Where is Nancy?!”
A new FBI affidavit reveals that Depape confirmed he was targeting Nancy Pelosi during the home invasion and attack and had plans to do horrible things to the House Speaker once he found her, threatening to “break her kneecaps.”
The Speaker of the House was in Washington D.C. for work at the time of the violent invasion. Reports have since revealed that DePape attacked and assaulted Paul Pelosi with a hammer.

Depape was arrested after he was found in the Pelosi California mansion and has since pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges during his arraignment in a San Francisco court this week.
According to new court filings, in addition to his vendetta against the Democratic House Speaker, Depape claimed to be sick of “lies coming out of Washington” and had “named several targets, including a local professor, several prominent state and federal politicians” and their relatives and loved ones.
Speaking to officers at the scene of the crime, Depape said of the assault against Paul Pelosi, “I didn’t really want to hurt him, but you know this was a suicide mission.”
Frank Ciccarelli, a carpenter in Berkeley, California, who used to employ Depape spoke with the New York Times and said that as soon as you started a conversation about politics with the suspect, “it was all over.”
“Because he really believed in the whole MAGA, ‘Pizzagate,’ stolen election — you know, all of it, all the way down the line. If you go to Fox News, if you go on the internet and you look at QAnon, you know, he had all these theories,” Ciccarelli explained.
Ciccarelli went on to tell the publication that once Depape was able to secure a place to live for himself, he had much more time and ability to sit on the computer, resulting in the suspect’s delusions growing even stronger, as he became more and more isolated and stopped showing up to work on time, or even at all.
“He was completely caught up in the fantasy, in the MAGA fantasy,” Ciccarelli explained.
Depape’s court-appointed lawyer, Adam Lipson, spoke outside the California courthouse this week and confirmed that the suspect’s legal team will be looking into the lies and Right-wing conspiracy theories that may have influenced Depape to the point of such heinous violence.
“There’s also been a lot of speculation regarding Mr. DePape’s vulnerability to misinformation and that is certainly something that we are going to look into,” the attorney told reporters outside the courthouse. “We are going to be doing a comprehensive investigation of what happened,” going on to add, “We’re going to be looking into Mr. DePape’s mental state.”
Late on Monday of this week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released a statement on the matter, saying that her husband Paul is facing “a long recovery process.”
Depape now faces charges on both a state and federal level for his crimes.
State charges include attempted murder, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder, and threats to a public official and their family.
On Monday, federal authorities officially charged the suspect with attempting to kidnap a US official and assaulting her family member.
