You may have thought there was nothing more to learn about Donald Trump and his family that you didn’t know already. But the Daily Mail has published a new trove of family photos, which described them as showing the future two-time president as “your quintessential, all-American family man devoted to his wife and three children.”
The cache of photos has a surprising origin: They were “apparently dumped in a suitcase by Trump’s first wife, Ivana over a decade ago.” A collector obtained the suitcase around 2014, and “she happened upon the items at a thrift shop, now shuttered, that benefited a local animal league. She suspected that Ivana or an assistant brought the items into the shop when she downsized to a condo.”
Ivana Trump died in 2022 and was buried at her former husband’s Bedminster golf club in New Jersey.
The package’s social media thumbnail, of Trump in a bathrobe, is not newly unearthed; it previously surfaced in 2017, after then-White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer declared, “I don’t think the President owns a bathrobe,” about a New York Times story claiming Trump had been lounging around the White House in a bathrobe.

The photos show Donald Trump with his three oldest children when they were babies and children, including several different birthday parties that took place when Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka were at young ages.
The newly unearthed photos also, per the Mail, “speak to the devoted dad’s special bond with his first daughter, Ivanka, who appeared to develop a taste for the finer things in life at a young age, as she is seen dressed in stylish dresses and outfits and being lavished with expensive gifts.”
The piece, while it paints a soft-focus portrait of the future president, doesn’t shy away from acknowleding how things ended up for Trump’s first marriage.

“They also depict a happier time for the family-of-five, before the couple’s marriage ended in divorce in 1992 and an ugly public battle between Ivana and his 15-years-younger mistress,” the Daily Mail writes. “Donald married Ivana in 1977 and had their three children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump before the then-businessman began an affair with model Marla Maples in 1989.”
