Report Claimed Melania Told A “Whopper” Of A Lie About Life Expectancy Under Her Husband’s Administration

Is lying through your teeth part of the 'Be Best' campaign?

Recently, it’s seemed as though Melania Trump has been picking up on her husband’s nasty Twitter habits — mainly the part where he tells big, fat lies with zero regrets. Lately, she really seems to have gotten worse. I’m not sure if it’s the quarantine forcing her to stay close to Donald for the first time since she married him or what, but the hypocrisy and nonsense coming from the First Lady’s social media account lately has been downright insufferable.

But while it may feel like this Twitter crap is new behavior out of Melania, it seems that now would be the perfect time to remind you that the First Lady has been lying for her husband for some time now, it’s just more prominent now that everyone is stuck at home.

Take this tweet from back in February.

“For the first time in 29 years, drug overdose deaths have dropped by 4.1% and life expectancy has increased by 4 years!” the First Lady wrote in a tweet recently. “Proud of this administration for ensuring a safer and healthier future for our nations children,” and followed it up with a “Be Best” hashtag.

Here’s the thing, though: Melania Trump is just as full of shit as her husband is.

While she wasn’t incorrect on the decrease in drug overdoses, as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did recently report a 4.1 percent drop in overdose fatalities, she completely missed the mark with the rest of her declaration.

The rest of her tweet, in which she claimed that life expectancy “increased by four years” was bullshit.

Back in 2018, life expectancy did see an uptick by about one month in lifespan, but according to the most recent report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, it’s still significantly lower than what it was during the Obama administration.

A report released by CNN read, “Life expectancy in the United States in 2018 was 78.7 years — an increase of 0.1 year compared with life expectancy of 78.6 years in 2017, the NCHS reported in a study published Thursday. The 2018 estimate remains lower than the peak of 78.9 years in 2014.”

We can see fudging the numbers to look a little better, but the average lifespan hasn’t changed by even one full year in ages, let alone gone up by four years. Being a big, fat liar isn’t exactly very “Be Best” of you, Mel.
