Reporter Asked Trump What He’s “Most Thankful For,” POTUS Appeared To Respond With Himself

Why am I not the slightest bit surprised?

Here we are, it’s almost Thanksgiving again, and Donald Trump is still, unfortunately, the president of the United States. If you’re anything like me, your attempt at celebrating a cruel and unusual American holiday by pretending to be extra thankful for all the things you have in life instead of recognizing that Thanksgiving just means this country has been a dick for a bazillion years now, will be marred by the fact that we still have a dick in the White House.

If, by some chance, you’re somehow not all that bothered by the fact that a racist, washed-up reality TV star is “running” our country as the holidays approach once again, let me just go ahead and ruin that for you really quick.

We’re all well aware of the fact that Donald Trump has an uncanny ability to pull some weird, awkward, and often downright stomach-churning stunts. And the holiday season has proven to have absolutely no bearing on his bullshit.

Last year, Donald and his spent Thanksgiving weekend at Mar-a-Lago (are you surprised?) where I have no doubt he ate copious amounts of Turkey day “hamberders” and spent a whole bunch of money on himself.

During his visit to his own resort, Trump took a phone call with members of the press as well as military personnel and was questioned about what he was “most thankful for” that year.

And frankly, he gave that trademarked Trumpian response we all expected by saying that he was, in fact, most thankful for himself.

“For having a great family and for having made a tremendous difference in this country,” Trump replied to the reporter’s holiday question. “I made a tremendous difference in the country. This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office that you won’t believe it.”

He went on to add, “And I mean, you see it, but so much stronger that people can’t even believe it. When I see foreign leaders, they say we cannot believe the difference in strength between the United States now and the United States two years ago. Made a lot of progress.”

Trump also made sure to grab at the opportunity to bash the federal courts for refusing to side with him on his inhumane immigration policies when he commented on the American troops stationed at our southern border for the holidays.

“It’s a terrible thing when judges take over your protective services when they tell you how to protect your border. It’s a disgrace,” Trump stated before giving military members the green light to use lethal force at the border.

And in case you missed the irony — yes, the president was giving our military permission to kill immigrants on the holiday where we celebrate the fact that we’re immigrants.

Unsurprisingly, Trump’s self-serving Thanksgiving tirade was a sharp contrast to that of his predecessor’s, Barack Obama, who posted to his Twitter account, “I am grateful for the next generation of leaders—the young people who are tolerant, creative, idealistic and doing the work to create the world as it should be. Who understand that hope requires action. From the Obama family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving,” on the heels of his surprise visit to a Chicago food bank where he volunteered for the holidays.

I don’t know about you guys, but this year I’m feeling most thankful for our nation’s impeachment process.
