Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) mocked the potentially deadly COVID-19 outbreak that has gripped the world by referring to it as the “beer virus,” then he went on to blame the media in Trumpian fashion. While the rest of us are self-isolating and reading facts and numbers — such as comparing Italy and America’s trajectory — this dangerous motherfucker told senior citizens and members of the state’s Chamber of Commerce in Palmer, Alaska, to “Go forth with everyday activities,” according to the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman.

“I say the exciting part about if you just look even in China where this thing originated, it peaked and it’s going down. It will happen here in the United States,” the 86-year-old Republican said. “This beer virus I call it, they call it a coronavirus, I call it a beer virus — how do you like that? It attacks our senior citizens. Now I’m one of you. I still say we have to as a nation, as a state to go forth with our everyday activities.”

Young said that the deadliness of the virus was “blown out of proportion,” claiming “it’s not nearly as deadly as the other viruses we have.”

Young went on to discuss the bill of $50 billion in stimulus funds after the outbreak has rocked the economy.

“This challenge we have, the small business community is going to have some support from congress in the sense of loans and in the sense of loan forgiveness. If they lose business with the development of this corona attack, again the beer virus, we can overcome this mess if we just be calm,” Young said. “Whether you realize it or not we are at war now, but mostly because of the presentations by the mass media.”

Young literally blamed the media while sending vulnerable seniors to bingo night and whatnot.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other top U.S. health officials have issued warnings in stark contrast to Young’s stunningly stupid remarks amid the coronavirus pandemic. The CDC has urged people to avoid nonessential mass gatherings and to practice social distancing.

The fake news rhetoric from Republicans is just another example of projection from the right-wing.
