As it happens, insurrections aren't popular.

Missouri senator Josh Hawley not only objected to a legitimate election, but he’s complicit in the insurrection that resulted from the lies told by Trump and his Republican enablers. In shock over the armed invasion, senators were ushered into a secure room, but, according to the Wall Street Journal,  Sen. Josh Hawley stood in a corner, mostly alone. According to GOP aides, Hawley was shunned by his Republican colleagues who were “furious with him.”

“It was extremely striking,” one individual told the Journal. “For most of the time, he was in a corner of the room by himself with no one talking to him or acknowledging him.”

Hawley ignited a firestorm of attention when he became the first Senator to say he would object to the 2020 presidential election results. As the outlet notes, “Once Mr. Hawley had signed on, there was enormous pressure on other Republican senators to follow suit or risk being seen as betraying President Trump.”

Hawley quickly became a pariah among Senate Republicans, “many of whom blame him for what they see as his role instigating a riot that overwhelmed the Capitol and resulted in the deaths of five people, including a Capitol Police officer,” the report states.

Hawley isn’t remorseful for his part in the armed takeover of the Capitol.

“I will never apologize for giving voice to the millions of Missourians and Americans who have concerns about the integrity of our elections,” he said in a statement. “That’s my job, and I will keep doing it.”

Hawley was thought of as a potential 2024 presidential contender, but following the violent riots, the 41-year-old Missouri Republican’s chances look bleak. And there were other Republicans who fell in line with the ‘rigged election’ lie, but Hawley positioned himself front and center in the shitshow that resulted in five deaths, chaos, mayhem, and a shocked nation.

And now, as Americans attempt to heal from yet another national crisis, those responsible need to be held accountable so we can all move on. Hawley is one of those people. Hawley seems more upset about his book deal being canceled than he does about the Capitol being attacked.
