Former NFL safety Jack Brewer declared Donald Trump the “first black president” Thursday during a Black History Month round table discussion at the White House. I wish Trump supporters were this color blind during former President Barack Obama’s time in office. Just last year, Trump faulted the orange-tone of his skin color on light bulbs but now while trying to garner the black vote, and while being obsessively jealous of his predecessor, the former reality show star seemed pleased to be called the country’s first African-American president.
“Mr. President, I don’t mean to interrupt, but I’ve got to say this because it’s Black History Month: man, you are the first black president,” Brewer told Trump, according to The Hill. The comment somehow prompted applause from conservative media personalities Diamond and Silk, Candace Owens, and others.
We’re not too surprised at the applause, though. Diamond & Silk were featured at CPAC yesterday, and said, “The last four letters of ‘Democrats’ spell ‘rats,’ while the last four letters of ‘Republican’ spell ‘I can.'” If they want to play that juvenile game, you can’t spell hatred without “red hat,” so there!
So, we’re not dealing with geniuses here, and conservatives have tried to take away Obama’s blackness for years now.

A recent poll shows that black registered voters give President Both Sides an approval rating of just 14 percent; however, they would overwhelmingly choose any of the Democratic candidates over him in a general election. We’re not even sure how Trump managed to get 14 percent approval with African-Americans, but we are indeed living in strange times. I could make some “Orange is the new black” jokes or something, but Brewer’s comment is calcifying my brain so, I have to go now.
