Two very different realities

Inflation hit 3.8% in April, the highest level since May 2023, and the Federal Reserve is now weighing a possible rate hike rather than a cut. At the same time many Americans are dealing with rising costs at home, Tiffany Trump is in India sharing photos from a luxury trip that included a stay at a resort where rooms with direct views of the Taj Mahal begin around $750 a night and premium suites can reach $6,000.

Tiffany, 32, has been documenting her trip through India with husband Michael Boulos on social media, posting photos from the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Akshardham Temple in Delhi and architectural sites across Rajasthan. Reports from Indian media said the Taj Mahal stop was not part of the original schedule and was added during the trip itself.

That visit also brought attention to where she stayed. The Oberoi Amarvilas, located within walking distance of the Taj Mahal and described by guests as the best resort in the world, became part of the conversation after Tiffany shared photos from the trip. She captioned the images: “An incredible visit to the Taj Mahal. What a dream come true.”

The property has spent decades hosting royalty, celebrities and state guests. Premier rooms with balcony views of the Taj Mahal range from about $450 to $750 per night, while larger suites with unobstructed views of the monument can range from $1,000 to $6,000.

The hotel itself also became part of the discussion, with some comments focusing on the luxury surrounding the trip and the contrast between high end travel and ongoing economic struggles back home.

The trip itself is private, and the Boulos family has significant wealth from Lebanese-Nigerian business interests that allows for that kind of travel independent of the Trump name.

This also comes only weeks after another Trump family travel post generated attention online. Lara Trump’s heavily documented China trip and her “honored to be on such an unforgettable trip” post created questions from critics over costs and appearances.
